Two programmers from California have succesfully installed Windows XP on a Mac. The two Californian’s responded to a challenge from Colin Nederkoorn of Houston, Texas in an online contest. Colin Nederkoon opened a challenged around January for anyone who can find a way to boot an Intel Mac with either Mac OS X or Windows XP. He collected donations for the prize money which accounted to around US$ 14,000. Nerderkoorn has posted the ingenious solution which passed the architectural difference caused by the EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) of Mac systems.

A Macintosh based worm is spreading through the instant messaging application Apple iChat. In an attempted attack, users will receive the file LATESTPICS.TGZ and when double clicked will release 2 files called LATESTPICS, and a hidden resource file name called _LATESTPICS. The worm does not execute though until you click on LATESTPICS. This worm deletes files from your computer.

Are you affected?
It is advised that you do not open unexpected files received from Apple iChat or simillar applications. If you feel that you may be infected, update your antivirus software and run a full system scan. You may refer to instructions offered by the antivirus software you are using.

Less than a month after releasing the new iPod with video, Apple has sold over a million videos (shorts, tv shows and music videos) from their iTunes Music Store. I agree with this too as I’d love to be able to purchase TV series that take too long to get here in Manila. Now if only they had an iTunes Music Store in the Philippines.

Apple is being sued for alleged problems with the iPod Nano which was just released a few months ago. The lawsuit was filed by Jason Tomczak through Seattle-based legal firm Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP. The suit also alleges that scratches on the screen can make the iPod Nano’s screen unreadable.

Just a few months after releasing iPod Nano, Apple has released the latest generation of iPods which supports video. The new iPod is thinner, has a better screen, longer battery life and support for H.264 and MPEG4 movies.
As some users note, the new iPod would hopefully be less prone to screen cracks or scratches like the iPod Nano.
