Heaven is in Palawan

After a relaxing 2 days in Coron, Palawan, one of my favorite places in the Philippines, I am back and ready to start my new life. With 2 days of boating and snorkeling and diving and catching fish I feel like I want to be part of the sea.

Childhood

Do you remember when you were little and you came to church every Sunday in your nicest outfit and sat there not too patiently waiting for the mass to end? Then after a few minutes, and given the opportunity, you’d go out of church silently to run around and play while the priest continues with his sermon. Sometimes its just so much fun to be a kid again.

The Autumn of Summer

Summer is a time for students to forget about everything they learned and to enjoy life for the next 2-3 months of summer break. That is what I have been doing for the past 21 years of my life until I started working.

Dried leaves always clutter up the streets of my University as a signal to the start of summer and this has always been a joyous occasion for me because it reminded me of good things about to happen. With the falling of old leaves, new leaves will always stock the tree with a magnificent display at the start of June’s rain.

Spiderman gets preggy

Spiderman gets a bit fattened up this year as one of the costumes worn by a student from the College of Fine Arts in the annual Lantern Parade. Students, faculty, personnel and other UP residents participated in the University’s culminating activity for 2003.

Christmas at Engg only means Engg Week…

With the coming of December, only one thing is in the minds of Engineering students at my University – well perhaps two if you count the Oblation Run – The College Week, a sort of long 1-2 week of festivities where organizations and fraternities go head to head in different games and activities. Tons of concerts and shows and other events will be held during this week and although students who have no organizations (like me) tend to miss out on the fun, it’s not so bad to lurk around and watch other people join in.

Under the bridge

A family of 6 huddles under a bridge collecting spare change for their dinner. As December comes, more and more poor children, teens and even entire families flock to the city to beg for money.

It’s kind of sad actually, most of us remember our Christmases as fun and cheerful. Racing to open our gifts at Christmas morn and having a feast the night before. To families like these, happiness comes in a pack of fries and a cup of Coke given by passers by.

This Christmas why not make a difference? Donate to your local charities and make the childhood memories of these children brighten.

Coming into
light

Clarity is a much sought after concept. For some people, it
is something they look for all their lives and but a few
find it. Yesterday, I tried to search for clarity but found that it was
indeed hard to achieve especially when your glasses are just
plain smudgy. Anyone have a clean cloth?
