As a darker take to the classic fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman is a so-so movie with one crowning achievement: the awesome portrayal of Charlize Theron as the queen. Everything else leaves much to be desired. The take of Snow White as a princess destined to become her own savior has been done before (Ever After?) but the portrayal of Kristen Stewart is so distracting that you're waiting for Edward or Jacob to appear any minute. Chris Hemsworth's character was yet another let down as he still seemed to be playing Thor in a somewhat different setting. If you're going to watch this movie, watch it for the masterpiece that is Charlize Theron and let everything else go heigh-ho, heigh-ho.
