I travel to Baguio at least once a year and every time I would take the Magilas Trail. It is a faster alternative to the MacArthur route even if the 98.6 KM bypass trail is longer than the 80 KM regular route through MacArthur. The trail cuts across the high traffic areas of Tarlac, Gerona, Paniqui, Moncada, Rosales, Villasis and Urdaneta and overall travel time is normally 1-2 hours as opposed to 2-3 hours along MacArthur Highway. Do only traverse it during the daytime as it has no lights and there is little traffic to assist you at night.
