Celebrating ‘Undas’

Lost Souls

November 1 is a day for the most Filipinos to honor their dead and make massive traffic jams near the local cemeteries. A day for remembering the dearly departed, Filipinos gather round the graves of their loved ones and talk about politics, eat food, gamble and play cards. So, how did you honor your loved ones last November 1?

I built a shrine in my home for my grandmother. I do this each year. I also include the saints and any other friends or relatives who die. I place items on the shrine that connect me to my grandmother. She is always with me.
