A Filipino-American Sunset
The golden arches, the golden sun
With the beautiful sunset in its back drop, the looming sign of
McDonald's stand proud and unchallenged.
The Philippines is home to over 100
McDonald's. We've even have a local slang for it in the same
affectionate way that the British or Americans call their McDonald's
Macy-d's or Micky-d's... we call ours McDo - pronounced Mac - Do with a
sharp o ending.
Home to over 450 fast food burger shops alone, a foreigner won't feel
too far away from home. Don't be afraid to try the local cuisine though,
it might even be a nice change of pace.

My family has always been McDo customers ever since my High School days. I am now 36 yrs. old and I still enjoy taking my nephews and nieces to any McDonald’s outlet in any mall we choose to take our weekly strolls in. Last May 2, I went to McDonald’s Starmall in Crossing,EDSA. I and my companion were very much disappointed with the way we’ve been treated by two service crews. You currently have a promo, where customers get a beat card for every Upgrade or Large Fries order. First, the guy (who looked very sleepy while he was taking my order) never gave me my beat cards. Sceond, when my companion decided to get our beatcards and asked for a plastic pouch (so we could just get our food to go, the female crew was very rude in telling her that it was not she who served the particular receipt my friend showed her. This female service crew seemed upset about something, which was why she snapped at my friend. In the first place, I should have already been given the beat cards upon payment of my ordered meal. Secondly, even if the rude female crew was not the one who served the meal, she could easily check the receipt’s date and number to verify that the meal has indeed been purchased in that outlet. These were her exact words :”Hindi kasi akin to e!” Mind you, she was frowning the whole time she was saying that. We failed to get the names of the two service crews but they will be quite easy to recognize. Both are thin looking. The guy always has sleepy eyes and speaks in a sluggush voice. The girl is sad to say good looking for somebody who does not know how to be nice to customers. The only crew we could say are pleasant to your customers is the cute slightly chubby guy and your Officer who was currently hosting a party at the time. we hope you could at least give a slight warning to your Starmall Branch. It’s bad enough that most people at Starmall are lining up at Jollibee, “di pa nila alagaan ang natitirang customers na sa kanila na kumakain dahil nga puno na sa kabila.”
I hope that for the branch’s sake, they would change. Tks.
