A short walk around the WTC memorial site, one eventually gets to the FDNY Ten which houses Engine Company 10 and Ladder Company 10 on 124 Liberty. The Ten House suffered heavy damage on the September 11th terrorist attack but the building finished repair and renovation last November 2003. Even if it was extensively damaged after the collapse of the towers, the quarters played a vital role in the daily operations at ground zero as a rest and recuperation station as well as a command post for fire department operations at the site. There's a memorial behind the Ten House depicting the heroics during the terrorist attack and it's worth a minute or two of reflection and prayer if you do get to visit.
