Over the weekend, North Korea reportedly successfully tested their first Hydrogen bomb which could yield a blast up to 100 kilotons. The bomb can reportedly be placed into an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). With North Korea's ICBM range for the Taepondong 2 at 6,000 km, this means it can reach as far as Davao. We looked at the impact of such a bomb if it was detonated in Metro Manila and according to this site, such a bomb could easily kill over 500,000 people - that's without fatalities from a nuclear fallout. That casualty count is almost 17 times more than the expected deaths from a magnitude 7.2 quake hitting Manila.
