The dictionary defines insidious as proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects. On the upside, Insidious the movie, was fast even if the story telling was gradual and nowhere near subtle. As a "scary" movie that comes to us stateside, I didn't find it particularly scary although most of the audiences I watched it with screamed and gasped at most parts (quite effective then?). It's not a bad movie and has a bit of the classic horror/scary movie film making techniques but not many surprises in the story so if you're looking for an afternoon to get scared, catch it on your favorite cinemas.
